Remember back when...

"going out" in 6th grade was sooo cool!?
night games with the opposite gender was a huge deal?
and when you secretly had baby crushes on everyone in your class?
Man, those were the days.
My brother is currently going through this stage and the memories that I have from it crack me up!
Jake is quite the ladies man. He gets invited to night games by girls every weekend.
Yeah he's pretty much the bomb.
When he was telling us about his 6th grade romances I reassured my dad not to be worried because I know exactly what the romances consisted of.
Hmm... lets see. I got "asked out" over MSN messenger (back when messenger was the best). and I said Yes because my friends told me to and because I didn't want to hurt this little guys feelings.
Two days later, I broke up with him. (Yes, over Msn messenger). because I felt like the worst child ever! Needless to say, it really didn't mean anything. I thought our two day "relationship" was over.
But it turns out my friends had told him that I still like him, I just cant have the title. So from that point on, he liked me. Not so sure how much I actually liked him. At school we gave a one second hug whenever we saw each other  and maybe played some games at lunch. Now... that is true love.
After a month of this beyond awkward thing we had, I told my friends I couldn't do this anymore.
The next day was Valentines day. He brought me a metal rose and a heart full of chocolates to school. Me and my two friends who had "guys" at the time, all got a gift and then one by one they kissed us on the cheek. All the boys were blushing and we girls had no idea what to think! I mean we were moving up in the world! After a month of consecutive hugging that was definitely aloud! Oh my.
After that, I remember my friend writing him a note for me explaining that boys are like shoes and how you love them but you need to try a new pair at times. hahaha wow. Did I really do this?
How embarrassing.
After telling my dad this story he says, "I'm so glad your comfortable with telling me about your young love!" haha If you can even call it that.
So I reassure you Father. Your son will look back and laugh if he does decide to ask someone out over instant messenger. and he won't do anything to unacceptable at such an age!
Here is to Jake and his love life at 12 years old! :)
I hope his works out better than mine did..
:)
